Breeding season for 2008 runs from
February 1 through July 31.

Our new stallion, Edelweiss de Bonce, is an exciting addition to any United States breeding program. Bred in France, he is by I Love You. Ridden by Norman Dello Joio, I Love You was AHSA Showjumper Horse of the Year in 1983 following his win of the World Cup in Vienna. In 1984, I Love You was second in the World Cup in Goteborg, Sweden. He also won Grand Prixs at Washington, Toronto and Calgary. He is by the famous Selle Francais stallion, Alme Z.

Edelweiss' mother, Jib'Or, is a French Anglo Arab. Not only has she produced Edelweiss, but she also produced the approved 1990 Anglo Arab stallion, Cool Fontaine. And, Cool Fontaine sired the approved 1996 French national stallion, It's Boy. A full sister to Edelweiss, Fl'Or de Bonce, has produced an approved Selle Francais son as well–Orkos des Clem.

Jib'Or's mother, Diane de l'Or, is by Arlequin, the sire of the great Zeus. Diane produced 3 approved stallions–Phosph'Or, who himself was a great performer in international competitions with a jumping index of 165, and who produced the approved French national stallion Fusain de Defey, who accumulated a jumping index of 162; Prince Ig'Or, also a French national stallion, who was known for producing not only great jumpers but also successful eventers–he has 44 children in the sport with indexes over 120 points, and he produced the approved stallion Daguet du Rochau with a 159 index in eventing; and, Nikad'Or who also produced successful show jumpers and eventers, with 10 children in the sport with indexes over 120.

Edelweiss de Bonce started a dressage career at his breeder's farm in France where he was a 5 and 6 year old Finalist in Dressage at Fontainebleau. He was further trained to Grand Prix dressage level in Germany by Catherine Haddad, before being sold to the USA where he competed successfully in dressage at PSG and Intermediare I for his new owner, Cory Walkey, under the rider, Mette Rosencrantz, before retirement from the sport to stand at stud. Cory says that he is the quietest horse she has ever ridden–at home, at the shows, you name it. And, as to his work ethic, she says that he would always try a little harder no matter how often she asked. Even if he had already given 100%, he would give more.

In Edelweiss de Bonce, you get a beautiful and modern type, great movement and temperament, as well as a fantastic pedigree–he is a top class French stallion to produce hunter, dressage, show jumping and eventing prospects.

For 2008, Edelweiss will stand at the Woodland Stallion Station in Woodland, CA. With appointment they will be happy to have you visit and see this beautiful stallion. Generally, they collect on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but can accommodate any special requests as long as they receive ample notice. And if you want to board your mare to have her covered we have arranged a special price separately for Edelweiss mares. The Stallion Station is within 15 minutes of the UC Davis Vet School, and a field service vet is at the Stallion Station most every day. If you are requesting transported semen, it is best to give as much notice as possible of your intended covering date. 72 hours is the minimum notice. For shipped semen, there is a collection fee of $285.00 per collection plus the cost of FedEx.
